Mt Boothby Pastoral Off-Grid Farrowing Property

Mt Boothby Pastoral Co is a family-owned, mixed farming operation including cows, sheep, pigs and cropping.

The farrowing property had an off-grid system installed by another installer, which was poorly and unsafely installed, and didn’t have the required components to function. A textbook example of the dangers of installers who don’t have the knowledge or experience to install off-grid systems. Had this system been able to function, it would have been a serious fire risk.

• BYD Flex batteries
• SMA Sunny Tripower solar inverters
• Additional equipment was also provided to make the system safe and functional

Project Outcome:

Investigations found that some of the existing Sunny Islands were not able to be salvaged due in part to missing internal parts, so replacement units needed to be purchased. With extensive on-site troubleshooting and remote software support from the SMA Technical Dept, the remaining existing Sunny Islands were reset, components re-established and proved functional.

A huge effort by our team to salvage this system and provide a safe and working off-grid system for the Farrowing Property.
